13 The Musical
A NEW MUSICAL ABOUT BEING A TEENAGER! Remember what life was like being a teen and trying to fit in? How many of us would like to forget? Hot off the success of the High School Musical franchise comes this original coming of age musical based on the life of a teenager. 13 comes to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre for previews on September 16, 2008 with an official start date of October 5, 2008. The production features a cast made up of mainly teenagers and the plot is derived from ageless tales about high school life and being young. Evan Goldman is a popular teenager from New York City who seems to have it all until his parents get divorced and he is forced to move to Indiana with his mother. Suddenly his whole life is turned upside down when he must adjust to a whole new life, new school and new friends. He must figure out a way to navigate through high school life and become part of the elusive “in” crowd. It is a timeless, universal story that the audience will thoroughly enjoy no matter what age group they are in. Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown wrote the music and the lyrics for the show. He won a Tony Award in 1999 for the score of Parade. He was a Tony Award nominee for his contributions for the 2003 production of Urban Cowboy and has also composed for several off-Broadway productions including Songs for a New World and The Last Five Years. In the lead role of Evan is Graham Phillips. He won rave reviews for his portrayal of the title character in The Little Prince at the New York City Opera in 2005. He was also the youngest person to sing the National Anthem at the Los Angeles Dodgers game. While this will mark his Broadway debut he portrayed the role of Evan at last year’s trial production in Connecticut. He has also appeared in television shows like The King of Queens and Judging Amy. 13 tells a funny, high energy story that has the main character discovering that being cool isn’t always what you thought it would be and that sometimes you find that it is where you least expect it. This quirky new show is quite a surprise and will leave you feeling good but it will also have you thanking your lucky stars that you are not in high school anymore! 13 The Musical Tickets are on sale now! 13 The Musical Tickets Information13 the Musical tickets are selling from the box office for between $76.50 - $111.50 with premium seats and sold out shows costing between $169.00 and $237.00.
