A Life In The Theatre tickets delivers a wonderful comedy filled with the elegant language that Mamet is known for. As the title suggests the play brings the audience into the life and behind the scenes of two actors. It tells the story of Robert and John, two thespian actors and the only characters within the play. Robert is a veteran actor of the stage while John is a promising newcomer. John begins to admire Robert's work as begins to accept him as his mentor. However, as time passes and John's work progress's he begins to grow weary of Robert's skills in both acting and teaching. Their relationship begins to change as John matures as both an individual and a theater actor. The viewer is treated to a witty and funny glance behind the scenes as the actor's struggle to share a dressing room and battle for the stage.
The play is inspired by Mamet's early work as an actor. It is based on what he observed an experienced backstage. The gifted American playwright uses these events to create a work from the actor's point of view. Most of Mamet's respected writing style can be seen within the dialogue of the two character play, showing his command of the two-part harmony. His distinguishing cynical, street-smart edge which has been come to be dubbed "Mamet speak" is present within his lustrous use of language. A Life In The Theatre tickets brings forth all the great attributes of the accomplished author, essayist, playwright, screenwriter and film director and showcase his early affection of the arts.
