What Is A Steady Rain All About?

This is a story about two Chicago cops who grew up together. They spent their childhood in the same neighborhood, went on to join the same profession and fell in love with the same girl. As most such stories go, there is a good cop and a bad cop. Both are dependent on each other, and the Steady Rain takes you through the journey of their lives. The show is scheduled to open this September. This Broadway show is expected to be worth every penny spent on the ticket, especially if you managed to get hold of A Steady Rain front row tickets. Their friendship which has lasted since childhood is put to a severe test when they confront each other in a dispute in a poor Chicago neighborhood.

Who Are The Actors?

Both Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman are well-known names. Daniel Craig, the quintessential James Bond has starred in some of the highest grossing movies ever made. These include ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Quantum of Solace.’ He has also been a part of the ‘Defiance,’ ‘The Golden Compass,’ ‘The Invasion,’ ‘The Infamous,’ and others. Though he started off as a theater actor, he has not been part of a play for many years now. This play will mark his debut in a Broadway show.

Hugh Jackman too has had his share of fame. He was the recipient of a Tony Award in 2004 for his role in the musical “The Boy From Oz.” He played the role of Peter Allen, and though reviews for the musical were mixed, he himself was a hit at the box office. This role turned him into one of the most sought after actors in theater but he has not accepted any other show since then.

Hugh Jackman featured as Wolverine in ‘The X-Men Origins.’ He has also been a part of films such as the ‘X-Men Trilogy,’ ‘Someone Like You,’ ‘the Swordfish,’ and ‘Kate and Leopold.’ He has also lent his voice to ‘Happy feet’.

This Broadway show is being produced by Barbara Broccoli. The director is Tony Award nominee John Crowley. Set and costume design in-charge is two time Tony Award winner Scott Pask. Music and sound design is being done by Mark Bennett and lighting being looked after by two time Tony Award nominee Hugh Vanstone. The playwright is Keith Huff, who is also the author of The Bird and Mr Banks.

Expectations from this Broadway show are very high, with some even venturing to predict that the show might beat the record set by Julia Roberts in the play, Three Days Of Rain.

When Is The First Show?

A Steady Rain front row tickets are expected to start selling for the previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater on September 10th. Opening night is scheduled for September 29th. The play will run for only 12 weeks up until December 6th.

This is not the first time that this play is being presented. It was first produced and staged at New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater in 2006. The play had its world premiere in 2007 at the Chicago Dramatists and was again presented at Chicago’s Royal George Theater in February 2008. It then won awards for Best New Work and Best Production.
