30th Anniversary Of Classic Musical!

Annie tickets are now available for the 35th anniversary revival of the popular musical. The show will be staged at the Palace Theatre with previews beginning on October 3, 2012. The redheaded orphan of the depression era is certain to entertain and delight an entire new generation which is sure to become fans of the now-legendary Broadway musical. The 2012 fall production is et to open on November 8th and scheduled for an open-ended run. Annie the Musical is sure to be on the seasons biggest hits and a considerable new addition for families this holiday season along "The Great White Way."

The stage show was first inspired from the original Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie. The original Broadway staging premiered in 1977 at the Alvin Theatre which today is named the Neil Simon Theatre. The musical was a huge success running for six years and breaking records for the theatre. The original production had its World premiere during tryouts on August 10, 1976 at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut. Actress Kristen Vigard played the lead role but was replaced by Andrea McArdle for the Broadway run. The show featured music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Martin Charnin, and the book by Thomas Meehan. The original staging was nominated for a total of eleven Tony Awards and Brought home seven including "Best Musical." The long run finally finished on January 2, 1983 after a total of 2,377 performances, and had many child actress play the role of Annie over the years, including Sarah Jessica Parker.

Annie tickets would continue to sell across the U.S. as four touring companies performed productions based on the Broadway show. London's West End premiered the musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre on May 3, 1978 until the final curtain on November 28, 1981. The first Broadway revival was staged in 1997 for "The 20th Anniversary" and was billed as such. The musical played at the Martin Beck Theatre which today is named the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The revival had many different problems among its cast and closed rather quickly after 239 performances on October 19, 1997. London's West End then went on to produce a revival in 1998, again at the Victoria Palace. U.S. touring companies continued to bring the musical throughout the country over the years.

The announcement for a 35th anniversary show on Broadway was met with much anticipation. Thomas Meehan is behind the rival project with James Lapine in the director role. Lilla Crawford will star as the little orphan Annie and Katie Finneran as Miss Hannigan. Anthony Warlow will handle the role of "Daddy" Warbucks." The production will include all the memorable songs, which have become ingrained in pop culture such as "Tomorrow" and "It's the Hard-Knock Life." Annie tickets are currently available for all performances on Broadway. When it comes to family musical's this holiday season, the Annie 35th Anniversary revival is going to be tough to beat.
