Rajiv Joseph's new play features a wonderful cast which includes stand-up comedy legend Robin Williams. The production is now performing on the stage of the Richard Rogers theatre. It is scheduled to close on July 3, 2011, a strict 16 week engagement. The groundbreaking play is a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize and under the direction of Tony Award nominee Moises Kaufman. Time is running out for a chance to see Mr. Williams deliver a hilarious romp on the big stage!

American playwright Rajiv Joseph tells a story about a tiger which roams the streets of present time Baghdad. The tiger has called the Baghdad zoo it's home but conditions have changed due to the war situations. He goes on to explain to the audience that many of the other animals have fled for freedom. The animals which tried to escape were all shot down and killed by soldiers. One evening two soldiers come to guard the zoo. The tiger is steeped with fear, panics and bites the hand off a soldier named Tom. The other soldier named Kev shoots and kills the tiger. Kev because haunted by the tiger that he sees roaming the streets of Baghdad in search of the meaning of life. Meanwhile Kev is on a search for his "gold gun" he used to shoot the tiger and a golden toilet seat in order to sell back at home to begin a new life.

Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo Tickets debuted at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in California on May 10, 2009. The production ran until June 7, 2009 directed by Moisés Kaufman. The comedic play enjoyed another run at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles between April 14, 2010, to May 30, 2010. The production starred American television character actor Kevin Tighe in the role as the tiger. The current Broadway production runs at the Richard Rodgers Theatre began previews on March 11 before officially opening on March 31. Besides Mr. Williams the cast includes Glenn Davis as Tom and Brad Fleischer as Kev. The production is a new twist for the big stage of Broadway with its radical concept.

The work of Mr. Joseph has been generally well received on Broadway. From top critics around the nation reviews have been mixed to positive. Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo Tickets is sure to challenge many mainstream theatergoers. Whether or not the new play can draw an audience and return the 3 million it cost to produce is still in question. There is little doubt that without the marquee value of Robin Williams the play would not have even been able to open on Broadway. Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo has been nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play (Arian Moayed), Best Lighting Design of a Play (David Lander) and Best Sound Design of a Play (Acme Sound Partners and Cricket S.
