The show premiered at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London in March 2005. The budget for the show was 5.5milllion pounds. It was directed by Stephen Daldry and the music was by Sir Elton John. The preview in Broadway was at the Imperial Theatre on 1 October 2008 and officially to the public on 13 November 2008 with a cast of 51. The show was directed and designed by the London team. Broadway is a popular tourist attraction in New York City. It is one of the largest theatres with a capacity of 500 seats. The role of Billy in the Broadway cast is played in rotation by David Alvarez, Trent Kowalik and Kiril Kulish. Billy Elliot Broadway show is the story of an 11 year old English boy who dreams to be a ballet dancer. The story is set around the 1984-85 coal miners’ strike. The boy is different from his friends who are into the conventional game of boxing. He is from a small town in County Durham where he continues to pursue his passion secretly. Billy’s dance talent is recognized by his teacher Mrs. Wilkinson. She tells him to audition for the Royal Ballet School in London. His family however shows absolutely no regard for his talent. As luck has it Billy’s father realizes the talent in him and decides to help him make it to the ballet audition. Billy is given the platform to perform and he proves himself. Billy makes it to the ballet school and begins the journey to fulfill his dream. They play was a smash hit in the West End with 9 Best musical awards in hand It has amazing UK box office records and still continues to run full shows.
