Boeing Boeing Broadway
A HIGH-FLYING HYSTERICALLY FUNNY SHOW!
This fast-paced comedy comes to the Longacre Theatre for previews on April 19, 2008 with an official start date of May 4, 2008. Boeing-Boeing comes directly to Broadway after an acclaimed London run where it received a 2008 Olivier Award nomination for Best Revival. The current New York production stars two time Tony and Emmy winner Christine Baranski and Emmy award winner Bradley Whitford. This delightfully funny comedy won’t disappoint!
This charming revival focuses on Bernard a jet setting architect living in Paris. He has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancés with the help of his reluctant housekeeper who keeps track of everyone’s comings and goings. Mayhem follows soon after the arrival of an old college pal as flights are delayed, schedules change and chaos ensues. And once the new, faster Boeing is introduced things really get out of control as Bernard’s neat routine begins to fall apart. He finds himself in the middle of a fiasco that makes for some very funny theatrical moments. Which woman is he truly meant to be with? And will she stick around?
The play, written by Marc Camoletti, originally ran in London from 1962 to 1969 and was adapted into a film starring Jerry Lewis, Tony Curtis and Thelma Ritter. The current production stars award winning actors Baranski as the reluctant housekeeper and Whitford in the role of Bernard. Baranski is probably best known for her role as Maryann on the popular sitcom Cybill. This is her first Broadway appearance in seventeen years. Her other Broadway credits include her Tony winning performances in Nick & Nora and The House of Blue Leaves. She also has a lengthy film resume including roles in Chicago, Cruel Intentions and the upcoming screen adaptation of Mamma Mia! Whitford is best known for his portrayal of Josh Lyman on the acclaimed television drama The West Wing. He made his Broadway debut in the 1990 production of A Few Good Men. His film credits include In the Line of Duty, Philadelphia and The Client. These two accomplished actors lead a very talented ensemble in a refreshingly funny tale of confusion, timing and romance.
Boeing-Boeing is Broadways newest comedy that has already received rave reviews abroad. The Dally Telegraph said it was “The Funniest Show on the London Stage.” Don’t miss your opportunity to see why London audiences enjoyed this hysterically funny award nominated production.
