Everyone’s favorite nanny flies into the New Amsterdam Theatre like you have never seen her before. Equipped with her umbrella and magic carpet bag Mary Poppins is ready for business. She appears to help the Banks children when they most desperately need her. Based on the P.L. Travers’ stories and the unforgettable 1964 Walt Disney film about a magical British nanny the Broadway production takes the story to new heights. The score includes many of the classic songs from the film with a few new ones thrown in and the choreography is phenomenal especially in the “Step In Time” routine. The musical introduces the “Practically Perfect” nanny to a whole new generation.
Come journey through the Circle of Life and experience The Lion King. This production is based on the 1994 animated Walt Disney Film and features many of the actors performing in life-like animal costumes and using realistic looking puppets to create the story. This production took home six Tony awards including the 1998 Best Musical Award. The powerful score was written by Elton John and Tim Rice and includes many of the popular songs from the movie that your kids will certainly recognize including “Circle of Life” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”. This captivating musical is one that will not disappoint and won’t be easily forgotten.
The most recent Disney production to swim on to the stage is The Little Mermaid. Your little princess (or prince) will love this voyage under the sea. Based on the beloved Disney animated film and the Hans Christian Andersen tale this fantastic production transforms the Lunt Fontanne Theatre into an underwater spectacular. Ariel, Sebastian and Flounder are all there to tell this story of the red-haired mermaid who wants nothing more then to be part of the above water world. Before the end of this production you and your family will be singing along and dancing in your seats. This show is an incredible theater opportunity that shouldn’t be missed!
Let’s not forget that lovable, green ogre. Shrek is just what your little one’s would want to see. The production tells the story of a misunderstood Ogre who learns that love and friendship are his for the taking if he wants them. The journey begins when Shrek and Donkey set out on an adventure to rescue Princess Fiona from high atop a tower guarded by a fire breathing dragon. Along the way they meet some very interesting characters to say the least but in the end will the sour ogre find true love? The show adoringly spoofs several Broadway productions including A Chorus Line, The Lion King and 42nd Street. It is great entertainment the entire family can enjoy.
