What’s Happening Broadway… May 2010It’s that time of the year. Summer is quickly approaching, the Broadway spring season is in full bloom and the Tony Awards are fast approaching. There are so many fantastic shows lighting up the various stages in NYC. If you are thinking of taking a trip to Broadway, there are several shows that have received the industry’s highest nominations. Be among the first to check them out. "Glee" and Spring Awakening star Lea Michele and God of Carnage's Jeff Daniels announced the nominations for the 64th Annual Tony Awards May 4 at the The New York Public Library for Performing Arts. The Tony Awards will be broadcast in a live three-hour ceremony from Radio City Music Hall on CBS June 13, 2010. Fences, starring Denzel Washington who was nominated for Best Actor, leads the pack with ten nominations, marking the first time a revival has ever received that many nods. Two musical revivals that originated at London's Menier Chocolate Factory — A Little Night Music and La Cage aux Folles — were nominated for Best Revival of a Musical. In addition to Washington’s nomination, some pretty big television and Hollywood stars were recognized for their runs on Broadway was well including Jude Law (Hamlet), Laura Linney (Time Stands Still), Kelsey Grammar (La Cage aux Folles), Sean Hayes (Promises, Promises) and Catherine Zeta-Jones ( A Little Night Music).
