The 2011 debut of Catch Me If You Can Broadway musical has received favorable reviews in the press. The new stage show has been adapted from the screenplay which led to the 2002 hit film directed by Steven Spielberg. The story is based on the life of Frank Abagnale Jr., a teenage runaway who cashed in millions through a check forging scam in the 1960's. The film included a talented cast of Leonardo DiCaprio as Abagnale and Tom Hanks as Hanratty. The Broadway musical stars Leo as Carl Hanratty and Aaron Tveit playing the lead role of Frank Jr. The production is full of fast paced adventures, comedic moments and entertaining songs along the way.

The Catch Me If You Can Broadway musical follows the original story quite closely. From Frank Abagnale Jr.'s troubled family life through his new found wealth posing as a Pan American World Airways pilot, a Georgia doctor and Louisiana attorney and parish prosecutor while perfecting his check fraud skills. Frank found the fast life and has grown very fond of it. From the fancy hotels and beautiful women, he seems quite reluctant to give it up, even with a dedicated FBI agent (Carl Hanratty) hot on his trail. The cat and mouse game between Frank and Carl seems to form a bond, almost a friendship and both find enjoyment in the challenges they face. Though Frank's escapades of running from the FBI are short lived, his skills as a check forger gain the respect from the FBI and prompt him for a position within the organization. Can Frank truly give up the thrills and fast paced life he has been living for an office job and plea bargain?

The Movie

The film was marketed as "inspired by true events," leading one to believe the script is loosely based on all the facts. The film went on to be well received from top film critics around the world.
