Chicago White Sox tickets remain a staple for the "South Siders" of the city. The city is home for the American League White Sox as well as the National League Cubs. The nickname of "South Siders" is derived from the district of the city the team plays in and most fans are located. The club plays in the Central Division and is one of the eight charter members of the American League. Home games are played in U.S. Cellular Field, once known as New Comiskey Park it is simply known as "The Cell" by the many die hard fans.

The team established itself in major league baseball back in 1900 under the name "Chicago White Stockings". The media quickly shortened their name down to the "Sox" in all newspaper headlines and the team adapted the name to the "White Sox". The original club played home games at "South Side Park" until 1910 when they made their home the now historic Comiskey Park. The ballpark went through a rebuild in 1991 to become known as "New Comiskey Park" and since 2003 Chicago White Sox tickets are sold for the renamed and branded U.S. Cellular Field.

History

Chicago White Sox tickets carry with them wonderful baseball history. The early team enjoyed great success in the professional birth of America's pastime, especially in the first two decades. They won the 1906 World Series and became known as "The Hitless Wonders" which speaks volumes for their defensive play. A little over a decade later they would win the 1917 World Series. The team included Eddie Cicotte, Eddie Collins, and Shoeless Joe Jackson.

Black Sox

The White Sox 1919 World Series run would add a dark spot to the team's prestige. What is known as the "Black Sox Scandal" involved prominent players of the team to fix games in the series for gamblers. Eddie Cicotte and Shoeless Joe Jackson were most notably singled out with the intentions of purposely losing games. At the time baseball had a new commissioner by the name of Kenesaw Mountain Landis who made repercussions severe as possible with a lifelong ban for all indicated in the incident.

While other teams within baseball have had more media dominated curses such as the rival North Side Cubs and Boston Red Sox, the White Sox endured years of mediocrity after the "Black Sox Scandal". Through the 1950's the White Sox, and other American League clubs were being knocked out of any chance of playoff runs by the dominate New York Yankees. The "Sox" however, could clinch a 1959 pennant win under manager Al Lopez. Another pennant run would not come until 2005 when the team enjoyed its first championship in 88 years sweeping the Houston Astros. The World Series win put an end to the long drought and any thoughts of a lifelong curse for the franchise.

Tickets

Chicago White Sox tickets are on sale each season for all home games at U.S. Cellular Field and away games around the country. The venue is a classic style ballpark which provides great views, clear sight lines, wide open concourse and natural grass. Over the years, the ownership has sold the naming rights to U.S. Cellular in order to invest more into renovations. The work has made the stadium much more friendly for fans as well as visually appealing, including the seats, restrooms and concessions. Whether a immense baseball fan, casual admirer of the game or just looking for something to do while in Chicago getting Chicago White Sox tickets should be at the top of the list.
