Cinderella Broadway tickets presents a fairy tale story based on the early French story by Charles Perrault entitled "Cendrillon, ou la Petite Pantoufle de Vair." In 1955 Rodgers and Hammerstein were approached by NBC to adapt and write an original musical for television. Since then the fairy tale story has become a part of pop culture and a part every child's youth. The story has been reworked and made over multiple times, including another 1965 television show and again in 1997.
The musical was first premiered at London Coliseum in 1958. The original cats included Yana (Pamella Guard), played Cinderella, with Tommy Steele, Jimmy Edwards, Kenneth Williams and Betty Marsden. By 1961 different stage production began popping up in the U.S. The New York City Opera produced Cinderella the musical in both 1993 and 1995. The musical has also enjoyed many successful tours as well as International staging's.
2013 marks the debut for Cinderella the Musical on Broadway! The productions features a new book from Douglas Carter Beane with Mark Brokaw in the director's chair. The cast includes Laura Osnes as Cinderella, Santino Fontana as the Prince, Victoria Clark as the Fairy Godmother, Harriet Harris as Cinderella's stepmother, Peter Bartlett as the Prime Minister, Ann Harada and Marla Mindelle as stepsisters Charlotte and Gabrielle, and Greg Hildreth as Jean-Michel. The Broadway musical production has enjoyed early success with nine Tony Award nominations and taking one home for William Ivey Long's costume design.
