Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella musical is perfect choice for family's heading to the Great White Way this summer! The original production was slated for a 1957 made-for television musical and has become a staple children's story ever since. The latest Broadway incarnation is a Rogers and Hammerstein production playing at the revamped Broadway Theatre. Cinderella the Musical officially opened at "The Broadway"on March 3, 2013 after running through previews since January 25, 2013. The musical is scheduled for an open-ended run and sure to continue and be a family favorite on Broadway this year.

Cinderella Broadway tickets presents a fairy tale story based on the early French story by Charles Perrault entitled "Cendrillon, ou la Petite Pantoufle de Vair." During the 1950's family musicals made for television were very popular and doing well. Hits such as "Peter Pan" had families sitting around the set and engaged in the magic of such great stories. In 1955 Rodgers and Hammerstein were approached by NBC to adapt and write an original musical for television. The collaboration decided on "Cinderella" but ended up signing with CBS (who had Julie Andrews signed) and the musical was premiered in 1957 to great success. Since then the fairy tale story has become a part of pop culture and a part every child's youth. The musical was first premiered at London Coliseum in 1958. The original cats included Yana (Pamella Guard), played Cinderella, with Tommy Steele, Jimmy Edwards, Kenneth Williams and Betty Marsden. By 1961 different stage production began popping up in the U.S. The New York City Opera produced Cinderella the musical in both 1993 and 1995. The musical has also enjoyed many successful tours as well as International staging's. 2013 marks the debut for Cinderella the Musical on Broadway! The productions features a new book from Douglas Carter Beane with Mark Brokaw in the director's chair. The cast includes Laura Osnes as Cinderella, Santino Fontana as the Prince, Victoria Clark as the Fairy Godmother, Harriet Harris as Cinderella's stepmother, Peter Bartlett as the Prime Minister, Ann Harada and Marla Mindelle as stepsisters Charlotte and Gabrielle, and Greg Hildreth as Jean-Michel. The Broadway musical production has enjoyed early success with nine Tony Award nominations and taking one home for William Ivey Long's costume design.
