Story Of Judy Garland Comes To Broadway!

End Of The Rainbow Tickets are on sale now for the play with music. The story tells of American icon Judy Garland and the performance of her "comeback." Written by English playwright Peter Quilter, the story centers around Judy Garland in the months leading up to her death in 1969. After performances running in London and Northampton since 2005 "End Of The Rainbow tickets are on sale for 2012 Broadway performance. The production is scheduled for an open-ended run at the Belasco Theatre. Previews is running from March 19 with an official opening night set for April 2, 2012.

It's December 1968 and Judy Garland is staying in London, along with young new fiancé Mickey Deans and faithful confidant and pianist Anthony, preparing for her five-week run of shows at The Talk of the Town. Garland aspires that her act will help her look after her celebrity profile, especially considering a fresh chain of dreadful press against her. Garland battles with a whirlwind of drugs and alcohol as she tackles the tedious series of concerts. The set of circumstances leads to strained relationships with the gentlemen around her. She attempts to regain her crown as the greatest talent of her generation.

Peter Quilter's work first premiered at the Sydney Opera House in Australia back in 2005. The production included Caroline O’Connor playing the lead as Garland. The play then transferred to the Theatre Royal in Sydney with O’Connor continuing her role. End of the Rainbow tickets eventually sold for performances on the West End at the Trafalgar Studios in 2011. The London performances included Tracie Bennett as Garland. The West End production was nominated for four Oliver Awards, including Best Actress for Bennett. The play then went out on tour throughout the U.K. A U.S. production premiered at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, running in early 2012. The production was directed by Terry Johnson and included Tracie Bennett repeated her role as Garland. The Broadway production also includes Mrs. Bennett in the lead role with a cast which features Michael Cumpsty as Anthony, Tom Pelphrey as Mickey Deans, and Jay Russell under the direction of Terry Johnson.

While the work is not a full musical, the production is considered "a play with music." Songs include:
