Finian's Rainbow on Broadway is based on a book by Fred Saidy and E.Y. Harburg. The songs have been written by Harburg and composed by the well known Burton Lane.

This Broadway musical tells the story of an Irish dreamer called Finian McLonergan and his headstrong daughter, Sharon McLonergan. Finian comes to a small Southern town located in a mythical state called Missitucky. He comes with the aim of burying his stolen pot of gold in Fort Knox. He believes that by doing so his gold will multiply and grow.

Mr. Finian has stolen this gold from a leprechaun, who follows him to Missitucky. He is determined to recover his gold.

Mr. Finian came with an aim to multiply his gold; however, he is faced by one complication after another. Not only does he have to deal with a conservative southern Senator, but he also has to deal with a credit crisis and a complicated love affair. The musical deals with issues of race and class, but in a very satirical manner.
