Ghost The Musical Broadway

The new Ghost The Musical Broadway show based on the popular 1990 film is set to open. The production features a book and lyrics by Bruce Joel Rubin and music and lyrics by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. The show is coming on a successful 2011 West End summer run which received mix reviews. The 2012 Broadway production is set for opening night on April 23 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production has been slightly tweaked and reworked from the West End production.
The new Ghost The Musical Broadway show keeps the plot and storyline of the popular film. The love story of Sam and Molly is explored on the stage. The couple is attacked while returning to their apartment. Sam succumbs to his injuries and soon dies. Sam is then caught between two worlds, the real world the hereafter. Sam can see that the love of his life, Molly, faces serious danger and refuses to leave her without helping. Through the help of a medium named Oda Mae Brown, Sam works to contact Molly and save her from grave danger.
The stage musical adaptation, while receiving mixed reviews in London, has been praised by all critics for its special effects. Critics highlight the skills involved and ingenuity they produce for the staging. The 2012 Broadway production reworked parts of the London show to help create stronger emotion. Included in the production teams reworking are changed lines, dropped show tunes and changes in characters.
The musical got its start at the Manchester Opera House in Manchester for a World Premiere try-out. The show then transferred to the Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End. Previews on the West End began on June 22, 2011 with an official opening night on July 19, 2011. Almost the entire cast and creative teams from the primary try-out transferred to the production. Leading roles played by Richard Fleeshman as Sam and Caissie Levy as Molly were replaced by Mark Evans and Siobhan Dillon so the two original actors could play the Broadway production. The West End show is directed by Tony Award-winning director Matthew Warchus.
Previews for the Broadway musical began on March 15, 2012. The production is directed by Matthew Warchus with original stars Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy reprising their roles, which extend from the innovative Manchester Opera House premiere. The cast also welcomes new actor's Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Oda Mae) and Bryce Pinkham (Carl) to the 2012 Broadway staging. The Broadway production makes some song changes, which include the addition of "Let Go" in Act I and "Unchained Melody" (reprise) in Act II.
