The performances ran from March 28, 2011 and through May 14, 2011. The production then transferred to the Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End. Opening night was on July 19, 2011 and reunited almost all the original cast and creative. Critical reviews of the production remained mixed, but all agreed on the high-tech special effects bringing life to the show.
The Broadway production found a home at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for 2012. The production is directed by Matthew Warchus, and brings the innovative stars of the cast Richard Fleeshman and Caissie Levy to The Great White Way. Both actors were in the primary try-out and the Piccadilly Theatre production. They left the West End show in the hands of Mark Evans and Siobhan Dillon to prepare for the Broadway premiere. The Broadway production has made a few small changes, separating it from the London production. Producers have commented that some line changes have been made, characters have been tweaked and songs added and eliminated. Producers promise their tweaks only add to the show.
