Hands On A Hardbody tickets are currently available for all performances of this new musical. An interesting new musical based on a 1997 documentary directed by S. R. Bindler. The story is about a endurance competition in Longview, Texas where contestants must compete to keep their hands on a pick up truck for the longest amount of time. The winner is rewarded the "hardbody." Previews have been running at the Brooks Atkinson Theater since February 23, 2013, with an official opening night scheduled for March 21, 2013. Critical response has been generally positive, making this interesting concept for a Broadway musical a definite choice for those looking to head out off the "beaten path."

Hands On A Hardbody tickets bring the viewer into a annual and highly anticipated Texas competition. A local auto dealership pits twenty-four contestants compete against each other with the simple challenge of not taking their hands off the truck. The rules are simple, you cannot lean on the truck nor squat down at any time. Much like the dance competitions of the 1950's, the contestants are allotted a 5 minute break every hour and a fifteen minute break every six hours. Whomever is the victor receives the pick up truck as the sole prize. For each of the financially strapped contestants stands not only a chance at a new truck but chance at the American dream.

The original documentary film documents the 1995 competition which lasted for seventy-seven continuous and grueling hours. The film gained an audience and was presented the "audience award for best documentary" at the 1997 Los Angeles Film Festival. Director Robert Altman was in the works for a creating a feature film based on the documentary before he passed away. The Broadway production makes a few subtle changes to the story, including the use of ten contestants battling for the new wheels. The tune up also includes some song swaps and a shorter run time.

The documentary was latter adapted into a musical for the La Jolla Playhouse. The production featured book (lyrics) by Doug Wright, music by Amanda Green and Trey Anastasio ,choreography originally by Benjamin Millepied before being replaced by Sergio Trujillo, and was under the direction by Neil Pepe. The production enjoyed it's World Premiere at the theatre and ran from April 2012 through June 2012. The entire original cast were able to reprise their roles for the Broadway production which found a home at the Brooks Atkinson Theater. Previews began running on February 23, 2013 and gained positive critical response. "Hands On A Hardbody" officially opened for it's Broadway debut on March 21, 2013.

The new musical is scheduled for an open-ended run at Brooks Atkinson Theater. The cast includes Keith Carradine, Hunter Foster, Mary Gordon Murray, Allison Case, Jay Armstrong Johnson and David Larsen as well as the rest of the original cast. The musical presents a fresh new idea to the Broadway stage, one which uses minimal staging and costumes and rather gains strength from it's simplicity and realism of average people struggling through financial hardship. Hands On A Hardbody tickets are certainly worth checking out this spring!
