The audience had high expectations from Jack O’Brien’s new play Impressionism. Surprisingly, it did not receive very positive response from the critics during its opening. Jeremy Gerard in Bloomberg suggested that it did not meet up with the expectation that it made with a starcast like Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen and compared the play with not so successful some contemporary plays. But later it got tremendous positive response from its viewer as well as the critics and proved to be one of the most successful productions of Broadway. According the record, Impressionism outperformed Jane Fonda’s “33 Variations” by over $22,000.
