Jersey Boys Tickets
THE STORY OF FRANKIE VALLI AND THE FOUR SEASONS Jersey Boys, a documentary style musical, opened in November of 2005 at the August Wilson Theater and has been selling Jersey Boys tickets like crazy ever since. The production has taken Broadway by storm with this fast- paced biography of one of the most successful 1960’s music groups: Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. The show took in over $400,000 in ticket sales the day after it opened, and continues to set new weekly records at the box office for the sale of Jersey Boys tickets.
This feel good musical takes the audience behind the music of the Four Seasons and uses many of their well-known songs to tell the story of how they rose to fame. It is a tale of four blue collar boys who go from the streets of Newark, New Jersey all the way to American pop sensations. The hits included such popular staples as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Can’t Take My Eyes off You,” and “Oh, What a Night.” The songs are portrayed in realistic settings such as nightclubs and recording studios rather than having the characters sing at one another. This production has audiences buying Jersey Boys tickets and getting on their feet almost every performance because the music is so familiar, and people can identify with these characters and their story.
The Four Seasons were originally formed in 1961 with Frankie Valli, known for his falsetto vocals, as the lead singer. They released their first hit, “Sherry”, in 1962. The group had over twenty-five top forty hits, and sold 175 million records. The Four Seasons, also included Tommy Devito, Bob Gaudio and Nick Massi, wrote all of their own music. Their Italian American style is what set them apart from other pop groups of their time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, and Valli still continues to tour performing many of their classic hits. The groups sound and style is credited with influencing the Jersey Shore scene in the 1970’s and 1980’s.
The production opened to rave reviews, and is adored by audiences and critics alike. In 2006, it won four Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Lead Actor in a Musical for John Lloyd Young. This show marks Young’s Broadway debut with his portrayal of Valli. He also beat Harry Connick, Jr. in this category. The show also took home awards for Best Performer by a Featured Actor in a Musical and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.
Jersey Boys captures the hearts of audiences with each nostalgic performance because it is an enjoyable, high energy story with good things happening to talented people. After experiencing this show one can certainly understand why the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons has stood the test of time. This production is not only a must see for fans of this musical era, but for anyone who enjoys a “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” type of story.
