Katy Perry concert tickets are now available for all dates and venues for her well received "California Dreams" tour. New dates have been added for the United States, extending the tour into November of 2011. The concerts are in support of Katy's successful third studio album "Teenage Dreams" which includes astounding four singles making it to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. The concerts include a variety of songs from her three albums along with covers from some of the pop diva's favorite performers. The tour also encompasses a more theatrical show, including an adventure filled storyline brought to life on the video screens.
Katy Perry was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984. She was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California where she was active in church with her parents who were pastor's. She learned her skills as a vocalist rehearsing gospel songs and pursing a career with her 2001 self-titled all gospel album. Her debut album faltered but Katy was picked up by The Matrix, a small production team which worked on her solo albums during 2004–2005. Neither of the recordings were ever released to the public. In 2007 Katy began working with Capitol Music Group and found her first taste of success with the Internet released single "Ur So Gay" later that same year. While the song was unable to obtain a position on the charts the song could attract a following. She released her second single "I Kissed a Girl," in 2008, which rose straight to the top of the international charts. Katy's first mainstream album "One of the Boys" was quickly released the same year and went on to enjoy great worldwide success.
Katy Perry followed up on her rising pop star success with her second studio album "Teenage Dream" in August 2010. The sophomore album jumped straight to number one on the Billboard 200. The album included "California Gurls", "Teenage Dream", "Firework", "E.T." and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" all of which would become hit singles. "Teenage Dreams" is one of only nine albums in history to have had four or more Hot 100 number ones on the chart. The "California Dreams" tour was created in support of the album. The concert events kicked off in February 2011 and will visit Europe, Australasia, Asia and the Americas. Five new dates have been added in November for the United States to close out the tour. Katy Perry concert tickets are on sale now for all remaining dates.
The "California Dreams" tour has been received positively by critics and audiences. The show begins with a storyline and follows the story throughout. She kicks the event off with a performance of "Teenage Dream" alongside her dancers and over-the-top costumes which all stay in line with the fairy tale being told. She revisits her past hits, including "Ur So Gay" and "I Kissed a Girl before building a climatic set of events with her latest hits, including "Hot n Cold," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "Firework." Other highlights of the show include great covers, which include Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)", Jay Z's "Big Pimpin'", and Willow Smith's "Whip My Hair." Perhaps the best surprise is the performance of Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" in which Perry invites fans onto the stage! The show quickly becomes more than just a pop concert but rather a jukebox extravaganza which plays out more like a theme-party with great music and costumes throughout.
