Legally Blonde The Musical Reviews

Legally Blonde is a run away hit. It has a fun filled plot, very strong characters and makes a statement that everyone can relate to. The play narrates the story of Elle Woods, Bel Air's beloved pink-clad blonde, and her similarly fashionable Chihuahua, Bruiser. Elle’s boyfriend ditches her at graduation. She admits herself to Harvard Law School in an attempt to win him back. It is there that revelation dawns on her that she has a great legal sense. Elle Woods is a star in her own right.

Jerry Mitchell has received a 2004 Tony Award nomination for his choreography work in "Never Gonna Dance." He is on his way to choreograph a Broadway musical "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" which is again a MGM On Stage project. Mitchell's previous work, for which he has won accolades worldwide, include "Hairspray," "The Full Monty," "Gypsy," "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown." In terms of Film work, he has done "Camp," "In and Out," "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous”. He also has been the creative energy and main choreographer of "Broadway Bares" which is an annual fundraising event for Broadway Care/Equity Fights AIDS.

Starting with Harvard University's 145th Hasty Pudding Theatricals, Larry O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin have worked together on several projects. The most outstanding among them is "Sarah, Plain and Tall". This started as a children's theater project. Then it gradually developed into a highly admired Off-Broadway musical. Both of then also wrote "Mice," which is the primary of the musicals in "Three". It played at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. O'Keefe is also known to writing the lyrics for the award-winning Off-Broadway hit "Bat Boy: The Musical," along with the songs for "The Cat in the Hat" and "The Daily Show." He has won the 2001 ASCAP Richard Rodgers New Horizon Award as well as the 2001 Jonathan Larson Foundation Award.

As for Nell Benjamin, he has written scripts for WB Network program "Unhappily Ever After." He is a recipient of the 2003 Kleban Foundation Award as "the most promising lyricist in America". He has also received a 2003 Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Grant. Luftig, Fox Theatricals and Berinstein earlier worked together on "Thoroughly Modern Millie," which won 2002 six Tony Awards in 2002 including Best Musical. Luftig's other notable works include "Movin' Out," the present off-Broadway production of "The Normal Heart," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Angels in America," and the 1998 restoration of "The King and I." So there is no missing Legally Blonde.
