Macbeth Tickets
A SHAKESPEARE CLASSIC COMES TO BROADWAY! This Shakespearean tragedy comes to the Lyceum Theatre for 64 performances only after a sold-out run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and a ten week sell-out in London’s West End. Macbeth begins previews for its limited run on March 28, 2008 with an official opening date of April 8, 2008. The play runs three hours with one intermission. Acclaimed actor Patrick Stewart will be reprising his Olivier Award nominated role of Macbeth in this much anticipated Broadway revival. In a modern update to the classic play this production occurs in no particular time and no specific country. It is a story of a determined man who will stop at nothing to obtain the crown. In his quest he is supported by his even more ruthless wife the ambitious Lady Macbeth. The play is set in an industrial chamber and centers on the tensions, paranoia and fear that ultimately lead to violence, destruction and murder. Once Macbeth murders the king he sets of a chain of events that leads to an outcome he never could have imagined. This play is in the spirit of a classic tragedy along the lines of Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. This modernized version of the play is directed by Rupert Goold and stars Stewart in the title role. Stewart is an accomplished actor both on the stage and in films but is probably best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the Star Trek: Next Generation television series and films. His lengthy and experienced theater career spans more than thirty years and includes his many roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His Broadway credits include A Christmas Carol, The Tempest and A Midsummer Nights Dream. The production also features Kate Fleetwood as Lady Macbeth, Michael Feast as Macduff and Suzanne Burden as Lady Macduff. The London production was recently nominated for five Olivier Awards including Best Actor for Stewart, Best Director and Best Revival. This award nominated production is one of the spring seasons “must see” plays. Like its previous sold-out record in other venues Broadway should be no exception. This is a strictly limited engagement and is scheduled to close on May 24, 2008. So, don’t miss your chance to experience one of Shakespeare’s greatest dramas.
