The On A Clear Day You Can See Forever Broadway revival gets an overhaul. The original 1965 Broadway premier occurred on October 17 and was nominated for three Tony Awards. The latest reworking includes a new book by Peter Parnell in an attempt to help bring the story more current. The revival also includes the well versed acting chops of Grammy and Emmy Award winner Harry Connick Jr. in the role of Dr. Mark Bruckner. Previews for the production kicked off on November 12, 2011 with an official opening night scheduled for December 11, 2011 at the St. James Theatre.

The On A Clear Day You Can See Forever Broadway revival is newly imagined. It looks to remove the "stiffness" of the original for the current day. The main rework comes from the storyline itself. The original tells the story of a woman named Daisy Gamble and her ESP abilities. Daisy is the fiance of a man named Warren and goes to a hypnotist to try and quite smoking. During her treatment, Dr. Mark Bruckner uncovers certain realities about his patient; she appears to be the reincarnation of 18th-century English woman named "Melinda Wells." Dr. Bruckner continues to explore the story of Melinda and soon finds himself falling in love with her. The new book and "rework" replace the character of Daisy with gay florist David (Turner). David's character turns out to be female 1940's jazz singer Melinda in a former life. Dr. Bruckner soon finds himself falling in love with Melinda and begins pursuing an irresistible and impossible love affair.

Michael Mayer and Peter Parnell succeed in creating a new vision for the musical. The score, Burton Lane (music) and Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics), celebrates the many classic show tunes such as "Come Back To Me," "What Did I Have That I Don't Have Now?," "She Isn't You," and the titular "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever." Mr. Lane is most known for his work on the musical "Finian's Rainbow." Composer Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner also collaborated on the Broadway score for "Carmelina" and the film "Royal Wedding." On A Clear Day, You Can See Forever was furthermore adapted into a 1970 film, and the revival score is enhanced with songs from Lane and Lerner's film scores.

On A Clear Day You Can See Forever Broadway revival is directed by Michael Mayer. The competent director is well-known for his Tony Award win for his direction of "Spring Awakening." He has also received recognition for directing and co-witting (Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong) "American Idiot" which had great success on Broadway. Mr. Mayer won the Drama Desk Award for his directing of the breakthrough rock opera. He directs a talented cast which includes Harry Connick Jr., Jessie Mueller, David Turner, Kerry O'Malley, Drew Gehling and Sarah Stiles. On A Clear Day You Can See Forever Broadway tickets are now on sale for all performances at the St. James Theatre.
