The revival performances of Present Laughter on Broadway started with previews on January 2, 2010 and officially opened on January 21, 2010 for a limited run. The venue for this revival of Noel Coward’s 1942 comedy is the Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre. Present Laughter tickets can be obtained from the box office of American Airlines Theatre or from licensed and authorized ticket brokers, such as Ticketmaster.

The play was originally written by Noel Coward in 1939 but was not performed until 3 years later, due to World War II. Present Laughter is a three-act play set in the 1930s. The plot revolves around Garry Essendine, a vain and egoistic graying matinee idol (played by four-time Tony nominee Victor Garber) who is preparing for his tour to Africa.

The story moves along at a fast and bright pace and is quite funny. It is no wonder that the Present Laughter tickets are grabbed with both hands by eager fans.

The Comedy

This is what the Roundabout Theatre Company has to say about Present Laughter: “At the center of his own universe sits matinee idol Garry Essendine (Victor Garber). While Garry struggles to plan his upcoming trip to Africa, his elegant London flat is invaded by a love struck ingénue, an adulterous producer and a married seductress. There is also Garry’s estranged wife and a crazed young playwright. Just before Garry escapes, the full extent of his misdemeanors is discovered and all hell breaks loose.”

This Nicholas Martin directed play’s cast includes: Lisa Banes (as Liz Essendine), Harriet Harris (as longtime secretary Monica Reed), Marc Vietor (as friend Morris Dixon), Richard Poe (as producer Henry Lypiatt), Pamela Jane Gray (as Henry’s wife, Joanna Lypiatt), Nancy E. Carroll (as Scandinavian maid Miss Erikson), and James Joseph O’Neil (as valet Fred), and also includes Brooks Ashmanskas (as a star-struck, young playwright Roland Maule), Alice Duffy (as Lady Saltburn), and Holley Fain (as ingénue Daphne Stillington and Lady Saltburn’s niece).

The creative cast includes Alexander Dodge (Set Designer), Jane Greenwood (Costume Designer), Rui Rita (Lighting Designer), and Drew Levy (Sound Designer).

Critics and viewers alike have liked this fast paced comedy and Present Laughter tickets are much in demand.

The Tickets

Tickets for the revival performances of Present Laughter on Broadway can be obtained from the box office of the theatre. The theatre is handicap-friendly. What is more, wheelchair seating as well as wheelchair accessible rest rooms are available. Present Laughter tickets for handicap viewers can be obtained only from the box office.

Tickets can also be obtained through the official ticket brokers - Ticketmaster. The advantage of using authorized brokers for Broadway tickets is that it is much faster, saving one the grind of standing in line for hours on end. In addition, viewers can get the seats of their choice for the show convenient to them.

Tickets for performances should not be purchased through re-sale forums and auction sites as there is no assurance the tickets will be genuine with genuine seat numbers.
