Sean Hayes Nominated for this Year’s Tony Award!

Emmy winning actor Sean Hayes, 2010 Tony nominee for this role, and Tony/Emmy Award winning actress Kristen Chenoweth star in the musical comedy revival of the Burt Bacharach/Hal David/Neil Simon musical, based on the Billy Wilder Oscar winning film, The Apartment. Promises, Promises is now playing at the Broadway Theatre and is currently an open-ended production. This is the first Broadway revival of this colorful production and it’s now in full swing. The show gives off a Mad Men type vibe and is sure to get a rise out of the audience.

The stage is set… it’s Manhattan in all its 1960’s glory as we get a glimpse into the story of Chuck Baxter, an ambitious employee of a life insurance company on his way up. As a bachelor, Chuck has what some of his colleagues desire: an apartment for fooling around. With the promise of promotion dangled before him, Chuck lends these senior executives his place for their extramarital trysts. As they gain access to his place for their affairs, Chuck begins to slowly climb the corporate ladder. But Chuck becomes more than a little conflicted when he learns that Fran, the object of his affection, is the mistress of his boss, the man who holds the key to Chuck’s flat and career.

The creative team on this production is a Broadway dream come true. It features the intoxicating score by the Academy Award winning duo of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, including the upbeat tile song as well as “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again.” The hilariously funny book that will not only have you in stitches, but will also make your hurt ache a bit was written by the brilliant mind of Neil Simon. The production is under the direction and choreography of Tony and Emmy award winner Rob Ashford, who has also been nominated for a Tony this year for Best Choreography. Top all of this off with a stellar cast and you have a Broadway phenomenon. Hayes and Chenoweth light up the stage and have a magical chemistry that can’t be missed. The production also stars Tony Goldwyn, Katie Finneran and Brooks Ashmanskas.

Audiences and critics are raving about this New York Gem. Plus, if you go to the show and enjoy the music, be on the lookout for the cast recording. It’s being released on June 22, 2010. The production is an open-ended run, but there is no guarantee as to how long the original cast will be performing, so if you want to see Hayes and Chenoweth get your Promises Promises Musical tickets soon.
