What happens when two couples fall in love amidst war? It gives rise to “South Pacific”, the musical on Broadway! Inspired by two short stories from the book written by James A. Michener titled, “Tales of the South Pacific”, this Broadway musical is a Pulitzer Prize winner and has bagged four Tony Awards!

South Pacific Is Creativity Unleashed

The musical is written by two creative souls, Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan. The sets are designed by Michael Yeargan. The costumes are the creative work of Catherine Zuber. The sound effects are given by Scott Lehrer and the lighting effects by Donald Holder. Without this creative group, it would not have been possible to get a realistic effect of the entire story onstage.

And how can we forget the perfect portrayal of each character by the star cast? They have done a terrific job of bringing each character live on stage! We’re talking about Mathew Morrison, who plays the character of Lt. Joe Cable and Kelli O’Hara, who plays Nellie. Mathew is well known for his role in “Sex and the City.” He has also won laurels for his role of Link Larkin in the hit Broadway show “Hairspray” and his role in the intriguing show “A Light in the Piazza.” The latter won him a Tony nomination. Kellie is famous for her role in “The Pajama Game” that bagged a Tony nomination for her and for “A Light in the Piazza.”

South Pacific the musical contains some mesmerizing songs that you would hum for a long time. These songs are “Balin Ha’i”, “Younger than Springtime”, “A Wonderful Guy”, and “Some Enchanted Evening”. They are not simply songs; they are messages to the audience. Perhaps that’s why they have become world classics.

Same is true of the story itself. It’s not just a love story. It’s a depiction of how lives can get affected by racism and war. It induces you to ponder on the less talked about topics like racism and consequences of war.

And no, please don’t mistake the musical for some serious documentary war stuff. It’s a love story and a complete entertainer. Take your family, friends, your lover, or go alone. Watch this show. Only then can you talk about it.

You might have not been present at the time of World War II. But, you can certainly be present at Vivian Beamont Theater, where you’ll get a chance to see the war actually coming alive! Can love bloom amidst war? It can! See for yourself in South Pacific the musical!

Getting South Pacific The Musical Tickets Is Tough

However, here’s a piece of advice: avoid the box office, as it’s over crowded. There are chances you might have to return empty-handed. Why don’t you contact the ticketing services? You need not step outside your home to do this. Simply dial a number. You can even get tickets delivered at home!

With such services, booking tickets for hit shows have become easier. Now, it’s possible to watch any show of your choice.
