The Addams Family is the latest musical on the Broadway. It has been directed and designed by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch. The characters of this play are inspired from the comic strip ‘The Addams Family’. Andrew Lippa has written its lyrics.

The main character of this play is ‘Wednesday’ who has recently turned 18 years old. She has started experiencing strange feelings. She is in love with Lucas Beineke. Her brother ‘Pugsley’ is quite upset as he feels that her sister no longer has time to torture her. Her parents, Morticia and Gomez, are also sad that their daughter is growing fast and would leave the family nest soon. Lucas visits Wednesday’s home along with his parents, Mal and Alice, for a dinner. Pugsley wants her sister to break with Lucas. He brings a potion for Wednesday in a hope that she would break from her boyfriend on drinking it. All the people at dinner play a game ‘Reveal a Secret’. While playing the game, Alice drinks the potion brought by Pugsley for her sister. After drinking the potion, Alice declares her marriage as a mess. This makes Mal furious and he decides to leave. As they are about to leave, Wednesday declares that Lucas and she are planning to get married to each other. A sudden storm forces Lucas and his parents to stay back at Wednesday’s home.

That night, a lot of things happen between different characters. Morticia, the mother of Wednesday, feels that she is aging and therefore losing her importance. She feels her daughter has become more important for the entire family. Lucas and Wednesday try to talk out their problems. After a brief fight between Morticia and Gomez, both of them unite. Mal also expresses his love for Alice. At the end, all couples are united.
