The story goes back to the year 1929. Two go-getting futurists compete with each other to create a device known as “television.” Both are two thousand miles away, yet each of them is aware that if he stops working on the project even for a minute, the other will go ahead. One of them is a hardnosed media mogul, while the other is a self-taught Idaho farm boy. Who wins the race to create the biggest invention of the 20th century? Well, it’s for you to watch!
The character Philo T. Farnsworth is a genius, who had invented television much before in 1927, when he was in high school. He has a bitter conflict with the head of Radio Corporation of America (RCA), David Sarnoff. The show features one of the tragic and big examples of legal fight between two ambitious souls. It shows how an industrial force works towards thwarting a rightful patent owner. “The Farnsworth Invention” is a battle for finding a place for oneself in history.
The design team of the show includes Klara Zieglerova, who has given scenic designs; David C. Woolard, who has designed costumes; Walter Trarbach, who has given sound; and Howell Binkley, who has given lighting. In addition to these creative artists, there is Andrew Lippa for the original music of the story and Lisa Shriver for movement and protocol.
This Broadway show had its debut run at La Jolla Playhouse in “Page to Stage” workshop production. It ran from February 20, 2007 to March 25, the same year. The Farnsworth Invention Tickets
