“Lion King” is the story of self-discovery and salvation. It’s the story of a lion cub named Simba, who has to fight for his rights of a king. This is one of the most adored animated shows till date. This is proved by the way the Lion King Tickets are sold at box offices!

The creative mind behind such a beautiful production is Julie Taymor. She is a director known for her stunning work in avant-garde theater. She has also designed the costumes for the show, in collaboration with Michael Curry, especially for designs of puppets and masks. In addition to this, she has given some extra music as well as lyrics to the original version by Tim Rice and Elton John.

According to Taymor, it wasn’t easy to create an impressive show like “Lion King.” It was, in fact, a challenge to blend a story, which is based on animals, with human emotions. And that’s why, she has made use of puppets and masks on live actors to create a humanly effect on each animal character. As you get the Lion King tickets and watch the show, you will find that Taymor has astutely used giant masks for bigger characters like Musafa and Scar. However, the thing to notice here is that, each actor reveals his or her face under the mask. This lets you actually see the facial expressions and feel the emotions in the story.

Another remarkable thing about “Lion King” is the way the ambience of a jungle is created on stage. It is commendable to see the vast rolling greens of African Savannah and the famous stampede created by Scar to kill Musafa, being brought to the stage. You just can’t think it’s being created. It looks so natural! Indeed, Taymor has done a great job in producing terrific effects of each scene on one stage, by utilizing imaginative and hazy staging techniques!

Do you know how the wildebeest stampede was created? Taymor generated an illusion of great distance, by using portals of five earth colors and placed them one behind the other. The scene of thousands of animals racing during the stampede was created by using a canvas roll as well as a string of big rollers. As you watch the show seated in front of the stage, it seems as if the animals are rushing directly at you!! Simply exhilarating!

“Lion King” musical contains five melodies by Elton John. The lyrics are written by Tim Rice. The smashing hits include "Can You Feel the Love Tonight," "The Circle of Life," and the immortal "Hakuna Matata." Besides this, the musical contains three new songs by the same duo. They are the hyenas' "Chow Down," Zazu's "The Morning Report," and "The Madness of King Scar". The last song transforms into a rising schizophrenia displayed by Scar.

In order to allow the audience to relate deeply with the journey of Simba, the musical contains The Rhythm of the Pride Lands, which is a recording motivated from the movie that features songs by Mark Mancina, Lebo M, Hans Zimmer, and Jay Rifkin.
