Written in 1895, The Seagull is regarded as one of Anton Chekhov’s best plays. It explores the story of a dysfunctional family living of obsessions and secrets without seeing the reality in front of them. This limited engagement is scheduled to end on December 21, 2008.A Story About Unaccomplished Dreams And Regrets
The story is set during a difficult time in Russian history. The Seagull Play in New York begins with young Konstantine’s desperate struggle to establish himself in the world as a writer. His life turns upside down on the return of his mother, a famous actress, along with her lover. Their mere presence causes a lot of upheaval, disturbing and unsettling all the other family members. The resulting tensions and growing suspicions are a test of their patience.
The story seems to mirror Shakespeare’s Hamlet in some parts. It displays the romantic entanglements and regrets of artists gathered in their summer house.A Wonderful Star Cast
