DEC. 1 The Color Purple Opening The Color Purple has opened on Dec. 1, 2005 at the Broadway theatre, located at 1681 Broadway at 53rd St. Based on the original novel written by Alice Walker which was the inspiration for the blockbuster hit directed by Steven Speilberg.
The Color Purple features a musical score by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray, the book has been written by playwright Marsha Norman with direction by Gary Griffin.
The production has some great stars opening on Broadway such as LaChanze, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Kingsley Leggs.
The show now playing on Broadway as a musical, with music from the jazz, ragtime and blues genre is sure to be a huge hit. Telling the story of one woman's struggles and triumph over extreme adversity, ultimately finding her voice in the world through love, hope and faith.
Mary Poppins To Take Over Lion Kings Reign at the New Amsterdam Theatre October 2006.
The hit 1964 Disney movie is set for a November 16th opeing at the new Amsterdam, while the Huge hit The Lion King will be moved to the Minskoff in June, where the 52 member cast will call their new home.
The Minskoff will be completely refurbished to accommodate the Lion King, and have it set to continue it's popular award winning run, the renovated Minskoff should be a nice home. Although many feel The Lion King earned it's home, and should not be moved at all.
Nov. 22 Christmas is back in full swing on Broadway, with of course, the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular. The show is a great event for family's to get into the holiday spirit, with Christmas carols and the famous dance routines of the Rockettes. The classic Nativity scene finale' always seems to create much buzz from the audiences, shows are currently selling out fast, with limited time left to catch the shows
George Ballantyne's The Nutcracker ballet by Tchaikovsky is now playing at the New York State Theater. The production is another great family event which is sure to put you into the holiday spirit. the classic production with outstanding dance routines and a beautiful musical score is always a huge hit with audiences.

Critics are already praising the movie which has been a long time in the making, hype and buzz surround the film adaptation of the huge hit Broadway production, which won many awards and was said to have revived Broadway's theater scene.
