He inherits a laboratory as well as a castle from his grandfather, Victor Von Frankenstein, who lived in Transylvania. Victor Von Frankenstein was a crazy man and now, after his death, it is up to Frederick to either continue his bizarre experiments that involved reanimating the dead, or shift to other city and start a fresh life as a brain surgeon.
