Hollywood Cast Comes to Broadway!

Emmy Award winner Laura Linney and film actress Alicia Silverstone are taking on the Great White Way in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Time Stands Still which opened on Broadway at the Samuel J. Freedman Theatre this past January. The drama includes a star powered cast that features Linney as a photojournalist who lived through a roadside bombing — but may not survive her long-term relationship. The production also stars theater powerhouses Brian d'Arcy James (Shriek) and Eric Bogosian. The acclaimed show has recently received a one week extension.

The drama tells the tales of Sarah Goodwin who was sidelined by a serious injury which leaves her questioning her personal and professional lives, and her place in the world. Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist (Laura Linney and Brian d'Arcy James), have been together for years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when Sarah’s injury forces them to return home to New York and their friends (Eric Bogosian and Alicia Silverstone) the bold couple confronts the idea of a more unadventurous life. This production deals with universal themes in a very timely manner. In an age where media is so important and needed, we find that it isn’t only our soldiers who can take a direct hit in the line of duty.

Time Stands Still was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies. The cast of four balances drama with the perfect mix of comedy. The serious dialog is delivered effortlessly while twists abound and secrets are revealed. The quartet work extremely well together despite their different industry backgrounds. The production is being directed by Daniel Sullivan.

The production opened to rave reviews and the box office numbers earned it a week extension. Roma Torre from NY1 said, “MTC's impeccable production is time well spent. A taut two hours, expertly directed by Daniel Sullivan. This impressive, timely new work is a dynamite showcase for stellar acting.” Joe Dziemianowicz from New York Daily News said, “Laura Linney is sublime in Daniel Sullivan deftly directed production. She keeps you glued from word one. Eric Bogosian and Alicia Silverstone hit all the right notes. Brian Arcy James has never been better. He gives a highly charged performance. Donald Margulies writes with intelligence and humor and creates dialogue that always hits the ear as real.”

Don’t miss your chance to see this intriguing portrait of life displayed genuinely and honestly on the stage. The production is scheduled to close on March 27, 2010.
