Venus In Fur tickets headed for sale at the Broadway box office this fall. The two-person play written by contemporary American playwright David Ives will begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on October 13, 2011. An official opening night is scheduled for November 8. The story will take place in the modern day telling the story of a young actress's desire to be in a new play. The production is brought to the big stage by Manhattan Theatre Club. Ives's work will likely not get the huge attention this fall but sure to be a "sleeper" and gain an audience.

David Ives's story is inspired by the 19th century novel of the same name. The sexy and appealing comedic tale centers around two actors played by Nina Arianda and Hugh Dancy. When an actress shows up at a rehearsal studio to audition for a director hoping for a role in a new play the lines between reality and fantasy quickly become skewed. The director is distraught trying to find the perfect actress for his role. He finds all the same faults in each new potential actress auditioning. When the last actress shows up to read for the role, he sees the same flaws once again. The audition soon unfolds into exposing true lust and power through an over the top sexually charged audition. The tables are turned on the playwright/director much like the novel his story is based on. Venus In Fur tickets are an invitation to a dark sexually charged comedy the likes have Broadway may have never seen.

Venus In Fur tickets for sold for the off-Broadway production. The play ran at the Classic Stage Company and ran between January 13, 2010 and March 7. The production helped to re ignite the career of Wes Bentley alongside Nina Arianda and under the direction of Walter Bobbie. With much critical acclaim Manhattan Theatre Club could transfer the production to Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre with Nina Arianda reprising her role as Vanda and Hugh Dancy replacing Wes Bentley.

Venus In Fur is a fun, sexy and humorous new play for fall on Broadway. With enough positive critical response and buzz on it's sexually charged content creating a buzz around New York the show should gain an audience rather quickly. If looking for something new and fresh on Broadway this season with some racy yet the funny subject matter, then give it a go.
