“Cyrano De Bergerac” is a typical tale of love and tragedy. It is based on a real story. It revolves around the soulful philosopher and poet, as well as a bright swordsman, named Cyrano. He is a cadet in the French Army. He falls in love with the lovely and strong-willed Roxanne. But, he is too shy to tell her because of his large nose. Cyrano learns that Roxanne loves the dashing Christian de Neuvilette, who is his senseless comrade. He then starts writing love letters and poetry for Roxanne under Christian’s name. Several years pass and, one fine day, the truth comes out!

The latest Broadway production of “Cyrano De Bergerac” started its previews on October 12, 2007. Its opening night is scheduled on November 1. 2007. The show will run for a limited 10 weeks, at the Richard Rodgers theatre. Anthony Burgess has translated and adapted the 1897 romantic classic of Edmond Rostand, to produce a stupendous Broadway show.

The Lovelorn Cyrano is played by Kevin Kline, who has won a Tony and Academy Award. The beautiful Roxanne is played by Jennifer Garner, who has won a Golden Globe Award, while Daniel Sunjata, who has won the nomination for Tony Award, plays the dim-witted Christian. In addition to these talented actors, there are Euan morton playing Ligniere, Max Baker playing Ragueneau, John Douglas Thompson playing Le Bret, Chris Sarandon playing Comte de Guiche, and Concetta Tomei playing Roxanne’s Duenna.

Jennifer, who plays the beautiful French socialite Roxanne, has starred in a series of other Broadway show, mostly musical ones. She became famous after playing the character of Sydney Bristow. in the smashing hit drama series titled “Alias.”

Kline, who plays the committed Cyrano, has been entertaining the audience onstage for the last two years. He was seen in “Mother Courage and Her Children” and “King Lear” in Public. “Cyrano De Bergarac” is his first commercial Broadway show, since his “On the Twentieth Century” was produced in 1978.

“Cyrano De Bergerac” is directed by David Leveaux and produced by Susan Bristow. It promises to entertain the audience to no end. It is a family show, with a tragic touch to it. If romantic tales intrigue you, then you must watch this show. It’s a love story with a difference.
